How do you make the best
carbon crank in the world?
Start by thoroughly testing every high-end
crank currently available for ultimate strength, fatigue strength and
stiffness. Then hand those numbers to a world class team of engineers
and designers, with one simple goal: make a better one.
The result is
the EC90 carbon road crank. At 558 grams, it packs the highest stiffness-to-weight
ratio of any carbon crank currently available, and has also tested at
over 500,000 cycles in a fatigue test—five times longer than the nearest
competitor. That’s unheard of in a carbon crank.
To do this we
started with our CNT Composite, which is the most advanced carbon fiber
material in the bike industry today, and developed our own blend of foam
core molding, bladder molding and compression molding to create a highly
refined carbon structure, and a higher level of performance in a carbon
crank. It doesn’t get any better than this.

Technology
CNT™, DCC™, HCM™, TaperWall™
Carbon Nanotubes make Easton’s proprietary CNT™ composite
tougher than standard high modulus carbon, making it the ideal
material for a superlight, super strong crank.
Dual Core Composite (DCC™) construction allows incredibly
precise control of the mold process and also creates a stiffness-boosting
spine inside both crank arms
Hybrid Composite Molding (HCM™) combines multiple composite
manufacturing techniques to optimize the resin to fiber ratio,
adding strength and minimizing weight.
Taperwall™ puts the material where it’s needed for
strength and stiffness. Wall thicknesses are thinner in the center
sections to save weight. The transitions between thick and thin
sections are seamless to distribute stress evenly along the length
of the structure.
